Embedding a YouTube Video

To embed a video from YouTube, just copy the code from the "Embed" box on the video's YouTube page. You can find the "Embed" box in the "About This Video" box when you're watching the video. You can also get the code from the "Embed HTML" box on the "Edit Video" page if the video belongs to your YouTube account.

To embed a YouTube video within a blog post, first click "Edit HTML" from within the post editor. Next, paste the video's code into the body of your post. That's it!

Set Up One-Click Video Sharing

If you post YouTube videos to your blog regularly, sharing directly from YouTube is even easier and you'll only have to set it up once.

1. Click the "Share" button on the YouTube video's page
2. Scroll down and click "Setup your blog for video posting."
3. Click "Add a Blog/Site"
4. Choose "Blogger" as your Blog Service and fill in your Google Account login information.
5. Choose which blogs you'd like to add to your YouTube account. You can choose more than one.
6. From now on, when you click "Share", you'll be given the option to post YouTube videos directly to your blogs!

Small tip about Blogger: Don't use it!

1. If you use too many links in your blog, google will without warning delete your blog and there's no way of getting it back.
2. You cannot get a high pagerank with blogger blogs.
3. Limited support for them cool widgets. Lack of customisability.

This is completely baseless, can you point to the source of it. There so many blogger blogs with High Page Rank, i have seen till PR5 on Blogger. Even labnol used to be on Blogger.

Google analytics is good, you can also try http://feedjit.com/ - Gives you real time blog traffic details.

Changing Favicon in blogger.

In blogger by default you get a fevicon(Icon in URL bar for a site ) which looks like [. You might want to change this as this looks very unprofessional. (Hehe..Well whole blogger is unprofessional and is for those who dont wanna spend a penny.).
So here is the process of adding your own favicon.

In your Dashbord go to Template>Edit HTML.
You will find this line in HTML code :

<title><data:blog.pageTitle/></title>

Copy and insert the following code below the line:-

<link href='URL of your icon file' rel='shortcut icon' type='image/vnd.microsoft.icon'/>

Instead of URL of your icon file you need to type address your favicon ofcourse . It can be a .ico, .jpg or .gif file. Make sure its small though. Not more then 50x50 pixels. (Otherwise it will look distorted and crappy.)

And yeah, blogger doesn't suck. It can be made to appear the way you want, but you just need to know its inbuilt CSS editor well. Comparing self hosted WP to Blogger is total BS. For self hosted WP, you need to pay. Blogger is free. The only thing you can compare Blogger to is Wordpress.com's online blog hosting service, which blogger ties with on benchmarks, with each having something the other doesn't.

Well getting a high PR is much more difficult with a blogspot account. Funny even though it is google who is behind Blogger. (This may be partly due to the fact that there is very limited scope for SEO with blogspot)

The links thing is true though. And when they wipe out, they take down all your blogs, even the one where you didn't have many links.

Hey Milind, why don't you come over to WordPress.com ? We have a much better community here, and THATS the main reason I switched to WP. There is always traffic for you if your post ends up in WP search results of popular terms, or if your post gets designated as a "featured post".

am very disappointed with wordpress for its limited features... you cant do something as simple changing font style, color easily.. so i dont think blogger is going to be any better..

Wrong. You can do ANYTHING in wordpress. But on wordpress.com with a free blog, pro features like CSS editing are paid upgrades.

And this feature is free on blogger.

Isn't the same true with blogger to a large extent ? Except for the customisation part, everything else is BETTER on wordpress.com. How does xxx.wordpress.com feel unprofessional compared to xxx.blogspot.com ??? wordpress.com and their rules are much more people friendly compared to blogger. Their developers and maintainers interact openly with their users, and its a winner-is-everyone situation there.
