Don't you have restore discs with you? If you have them, simply boot from the DVD/CD and restore your computer to the factory defaults.

What I understand is that you've accidentally selected the wrong option during Ubuntu install - USE ENTIRE DISK.

Also, it seems that HP didn't give you any restore disks instead went the cheaper way of creating a Restore partition which was apparently deleted as explained above. Get yourself an XP installation disk and install. I'm not sure if the product key on the underside of the laptop will work. But you can nevertheless try. You are on your own now to find the drivers of the laptop hardware.

Use some software like Unknown device identifier after installing XP to get details about the hardware present in your laptop and hunt for driver. Get UDI here: http://www.zhangduo.com/udi.html

@agusbernal24, restoring with recovery disk will delete all datas on ur hdd. if you created partitions after purschase, they'll also get deleted.

if you laptop had a "recovery partition", maye you hav a chance.
when laptops' booting, look at the bootom of screen, a msg wil be flashed, "press F11/10... to start recovery..."
