If it is urgent, then I'd advise you to download Foxit reader as a temporary stopgap. Otherwise get Adobe reader 9 from their website.
Otherwise wait for the über geeks to reply.

You can Try it.
Follow the following steps carefully: 1. start the setup by double clicking and wait until the installation files are Unpacked in a temporary folder. 2. As soon as windows displays above message for executing the files, start windows explorer and navigate to the "AppData\LocalLow\Netopsystems\temp" folder under the "c:\Users\<username>" directory. 3. from here copy the complete 'Adobe Reader 8' subfolder to some other location in your user profile. eg. desktop. 4. Now exit the installation process you initiated by clicking cancel in the dialog box. 5. Then open the 'Adobe Reader 8' folder in your user profile and start the setup.exe file to return the installation and install adobe reader. .................................. |

^^ That may work, but I have my doubts because -
1. The big setup file is just the unpacker, and not the main installation program. 2. Only the main install program checks if the software is already present in the computer. 3. Therefore, even if you copy the unpacked files somewhere, the program is gonna check if the software is present already. 4. Therefore, the topic starter may face the same problem again.

To test your method, I recommend you to check out a couple of programs that use this type of unpacking systems, and a process monitor program like zonealarm, to see which application actually checks if the software is present or not. You will find that it is the UNPACKED main installation program, and not the single unpacker which you download from net. I have tested my theory with the latest adobe reader setup, which is the same installation package as adobe 8.1.2 Quote:

I can very well understand what you're doing, but Im just telling you that it may not work, because the very setup you are trying to run forcely, will first check if the software is installed or not, leading to the same error message provided by the topic starter. You are not running it forcely, just extracting it and running. I'm not trying to confuse anyone, just that you need to understand clearly what the setup does. You are under the assumption that the extracting program checks if the software is present or not. and I'm just telling you that its wrong.

Well, what i can do if you does not want to understand me!
I can just try to do best possible attempt from my side as possible. if you have any other idea, then give here. previously you were saying to him, why he not follow the error instruction? think seriously what he have not tried to uninstall previous version. Actually it was the serious problem with adobe reader 8 which occured many times on some system while we are trying to install it. and it gives the error that previous version of adobe reader is already installed in the system. Sorry brother here is nothing to analysis, it is straight forward . Also there are many problems are waiting for you in the software section. provide solution to them, then we will discuss on them. .....Last comment in this thread. |
