How to uninstall Windows 98 from a XP-98 Dual Boot?

So you have installed Windows Xp and 98 Dual boot with 98 on C: and XP on the other drive.............
But now you don't want to use 98 any more and want to make XP single boot on your computer..........
Ok then........ Follow the following process.........

>>Backup essential data from C:

>>Reboot with a 98 bootable floppy or CD

>>Type in the following command to quickly format your C:

Code:

Format c:/q

>>Now, reboot again with a XP bootable CD

>>On the first screen (after loading all the essentials), press 'R' to goto the recovery console

>>Log in with the help of Administrator password

>>Type in the following command

Code:

Bootcfg

Choose the Windows installation. It is number 1.
And give any name to the installation.

>>Reboot by typing the following command

reboot

>>Now, do not press 'R' on the first screen. Press <enter> to enter the setup.

>>Now, it will detect older Windows XP installation. Press 'R' to repair.

>>Then repair.

It will take about as much time it would take to install XP but it is better than new XP installation because you wont have to lose a lot of settings and won't have to reinstall installed programs again. However, the critical updates and Service Pack will be lost.

thnks but was late to view this cos i too had this 2 OS and formatted both the drives and then installed XP.. Hereafters i can do these steps and also can help out my frnds to follow this..
