To reduce the boot up time there are a few things that you can do firstly reduce the unwanted servers /services taht are started. Disable NPT update this utility tris to set machune time to the atomoc clock. Next boot to init 3 and finaly enable service like lookforward that increase the boot speed. Well to give you an idea my Gentoo boots up in 39 Sec after selecting grub options that too on a 866 P3. So compared to this you have a super computer.
