Default Configuring Network on 2 Win98 PC

SETTING UP WIN NETWORK

----------------------------------------------------------------

[Make sure the network cards are installed]
[Make sure the network card drivers are installed]
Check
Right click MY COMPUTER > Device Manager > Network Adapters
and see if the network card is installed.
[Make sure the network cable is connected between both the systems]
___

1 ) Right click on Network neighborhood
2 ) TCP IP Properties
3 ) Click on your network card properties in the list }TCP/IP -> Ethernet Adapter
4 ) IP 192.168.0.1 on first sys
5 ) SUBNET MASK 255.255.255.0
6 ) GATEWAY PUT THE SAME IP ie 192.168.0.1/ for second system 192.168.0.2
6 ) Identification tab - PUT DETAILS Workgroup , Workgroup Name ie MSHOME shd be same across systems
7 ) Access control - share level user control - preffered
8 ) LOGON METHOD - MICROSOFT FAMILY LOGON - on both systems

Done ... now do on second system
but IP address 192.168.0.2
SUBNET Mask same as above 255.255.255.0
check these >>
1 ) FILE AND PRINTER SHARING
2 ) SHARE FILE OR PRINTER

.... DONE

..RESTART BOTH SYSTEMS

>>>>PROBLEMS FOUND WITH
>FIREWALLS
1 )TRY EXITING FIREWALL/ SETTING Permissions
2 )ANTI-VIRUS WITH FIREWALL SOFTWARE try setting permissions

wat to do when 1st pc is connected to internet(DHCP).i want to share this connection with the 2nd pc which is in the workgroup. :roll:

my problem is http://www.thinkdigit.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=34512

both systems r running on windows xp with sp2

very useful mate. all problem has been solved.
i have given the DNS & GATEWAY adress of laptop as the ip adress of my pc which is connected to the internet.then i shared the internet connection and its working.
