internet problem

i stay in my college hostel and we need to run internet through 'automatically detect settings' but i m not able to do it now...........this problem started a few days ago
i formatted my windows xp and installed its fresh copy then also i m not able to connect to internet............
i even installed a fresh copy of windows 7 but no solution.............
i also resetted my bios setting by removing the cmos battery for 1 minute but it also didnt work out
i able to do anything on lan like playing games or sharing files but no internet...............
i checked my lan port of my room also with my friends laptop and he was able to connect to internet.........
guys pls help me out...............

no need to reset bios if u r LAN is working. (u r windows os and LAN port is working fine).

check u r browser proxy settings. (enable or disable according to u r hostel network settings).

and also check if u have enabled any firewall. try running the Network Setup Wizard also

try with different browsers.


if these doesn't work check with u r hostel network admin (he may have blocked new hosts in the router ....).
