Default clear up your desktop clutter by creating a new toolbar.

hi there !

would u like to to clear up your winxp desktop clutter without loosing functionality ? try this !

unlock the taskbar. rt-click on your task bar>create new toolbar>name
it My Toolbar and place in My Documents. u will see it appearing next
o the system tray. rt click and drag it to the top of your screen,
in the form of a thin horizontal strip. drag your desk top items onto it.
rt-click on it, and uncheck show title & show text. also in view, check use
small icons.

create restart/shutdown icons on your desk top, and drag them too on this
toolbar. http://www.thinkdigit.com/forum/view...+shutdown+icon

arrange all the icons according to your convinience. lock the task bar. then delete all the icons on your desktop. to delete system icons like
recycle bin, instead of fidling with the registry, use tweakui. its got an
option in desktop/icons. uncheck all. (this is better that rt-clicking
on ur desktop and and unchecking show desktop icons, as i experienced a
slight delay in boot-up time if done this way).

remove all (or most) the icons from the quick-launch on your bottom task-bar. u can always transfer them to My Toolbar. this way u also clear up space on ur taskbar.

there you will have a strip (taskbar) in the bottom and a strip (my taskbar) at the top, with your wallpaper/desktop appearing clean. with all FUNCTIONALITY intact !

if u want a fish swimming against ur underwater wallpaper, or such like,
u can always download such widgets from http://www.widgetgallery.com/ or www.wincustomize.com. a widget hardly takes up any resources !

it can be done more simply.
just make a folder in desktop and drag all the icons you want in that folder.
then drag that folder to the top of the screen and let go of the mouse, voila! the toolbar is created.
and then uncheck the "show title" and "show text" and make the icon size small.
done

or else check out 'aqua dock'. a real nifty dock. performs the same functions, and literally HARDLY uses any resources.
