Windows XP Tips For Beginners

Well this is not for advance windows tweaks. This is simple and much simple easy guidence for very
novice users. I think it is the different one. It targets to beginners so that why I created this thread.


Control your mouse with numerical keypad on keyboard.
  • > Press Start
    > Go to Control Panel
    > Select Accessibility options
    > Again Select Accesibility options
    > There select the mouse tab
    > Check the box that say 'Use MouseKeys'
    > Press Apply
    > Press OK

Showing extensions for known file types.
  • > Press Start
    > Go to My Computer
    > Above in the toolbar
    > Select Tools > Folder Options
    > Select View Tab
    > Below Advance Settings
    > Uncheck the box that say 'Hide extensions of known file types'
    > Press Apply
    > Press OK

Disable Error Reporting feature In XP.
  • > Press Start
    > Right Click on My Computer Icon
    > Select Properties
    > Select Advanced Tab
    > Below Their Click On 'Error Reporting'
    > Their Select the option 'Disable error reporting'
    > Press OK
    > Press OK again on system properties window

Ungroup similar taskbar buttons.
  • > Right Click on Start button
    > Select Properties
    > Select Taskbar Tab
    > Uncheck the box that say 'Group similar taskbar buttons'
    > Press Apply
    > Press OK

Auto-hide the taskbar.
  • > Right Click on Start button
    > Select Properties
    > Select Taskbar Tab
    > Check the box that say 'Auto-hide the taskbar'
    > Press Apply
    > Press OK
