Default Sony Thinking Of Android!

T-Mobile and HTC have set the ball rolling; it is only a matter of time before it becomes a snowball, crushing the iPhone. This could also be a blow to Symbian, which recently criticised Linux for being unfit for mobile phones. The 'jab' has come from Dick Komiyama, whole president, Sony Ericsson who acknowledged during a press meet at LUND, Sweden, that the company is studying Google's Android mobile operating system. Interestingly, Sony Ericsson is already part of the Symbian Foundation.
Komiyama was speaking at the launch of Sony Ericsson’s environmental warranty and the concept of Sony Ericsson GreenHeart phones -- just two initiatives the company is taking to further its commitment to a sustainable future and continually reducing its impact on the environment.

The launch of Sony Ericsson’s environmental warranty means that now, when any Sony Ericsson product is taken to a designated collection point, Sony Ericsson will recycle this product in an environmentally sound way. This warranty is valid globally, regardless of where the product was originally purchased, as Sony Ericsson strives to show its support for ‘individual producer responsibility’ (IPR). This new initiative has now been initiated in India, Taiwan, China, Thailand, Singapore USA and Mexico. The company’s solely owned collection points will be primarily made available in those countries where the current industry-standard system of phone recycling have been judged to be too limited.

Returning to the point of Android, it seems the mobile war is simply going to get hotter with RIM gearing up to bring in touchscreen Blackberry phones. Also its recent TV commercials seem to throw out an impression that the Blackberry is for almost everything from entertainment to serious business. Only Microsoft seems to be a bit low in action; all the other players are quite aggressive in this segment.

HTC just ended up for android the way gigabyte ended up for 780G chipset - its the first one to come up with a product using this new platform hence it gets the initial market rolling.

Better companies like Sony, Nokia and Motorolla are only bound to follow soon.

As far as I think, SE will not experiment with Android until they launch a couple of more Windows Mobile based phones in their Xperia line up and their market is consolidated. They also got a couple of Symbian UIQ smartphones though.

Any idea how much space does Android occupies in the mobile's memory in comparison to Mac OS X 700 MB in iPhone ?
