Get on the Adobe Reader 9 Beta
The new version of Reader is going to have some very cool stuff . They’ve optimized it a lot so the startup time is much, much improved and they’ve started incorporating Flash so that you can do all kinds of cool things right inside of your PDF. If you were at MAX you probably saw it during the sneaks.
**Adobe Acrobat 9.0 was released June 2008.
** Built in Flash Support
** Users can put flash into PDF
**Acrobat Connect (new in Acrobat family, formerly Macromedia Breeze) – online personal meeting rooms to collaborate in real time for up to 15 participants.
**Acrobat Connect Professional (new in Acrobat family, formerly Macromedia Breeze) – Scalable, interactive web conferencing and multiple personal meeting rooms for everyone across an enterprise.
So guys wat do u think of this new version. Is this the time to change frm Foxit reader to Adobe???

Re: Get on the Adobe Reader 9 Beta
Foxit always rules. Adobe has increased both disk and memory requirements... All we need is a new foxit version supporting flash. And mention source, please.

Sigh I preferred the pdf as it is . Now this is going to cause issues in every other pdf file I think. Especially if you are on Linux. Anyway Adobe is a piece of bloat. I use Fox it.

Re: Get on the Adobe Reader 9 Beta
Flash in PDF?? OMG!!
PDF is an ISO standard format. Now if Flash is gonna be embedded the standard will just become a container for a proprietary format.

Re: Get on the Adobe Reader 9 Beta
Not flash in PDF noo! All the eMags are soon going to be putting flashy ads in the PDFs. This is going to be horrible for the end user.

Re: Get on the Adobe Reader 9 Beta
sorry for being a noob (I am already that lol) in this. I never used Foxit. If you do not mind, someone please tell me their experience ?
I already googled, found download link for foxit reader from download.com and downloaded it. Lil confused as the company website (foxitsoftwares.com) says its commercial, but can download free provided we go for some promo offers (like buy something else and get foxit reader free). Confused how download.com provide it without any tags attached while the company download page is lil tricky.
Rt now, I am using Adobe Acrobat Reader, I think it use a lot of memory.
Edit
Aaaw. I see the download link in foxitsoftwares.com itself now ! Might be I am tired these days
http://www.foxitsoftware.com/pdf/rea...own_reader.htm
I will try it, but please post your experience and comments if you can.

Re: Get on the Adobe Reader 9 Beta
There's nothing to using Foxit. Its just a PDF reader and is the best at it (for Windows of course).

Re: Get on the Adobe Reader 9 Beta
@din
Here is a comparison of Adobe and Foxit readers:
Adobe = You are hungry, you go to the restaurant and order every item on the menu. You wont eat all, but still you'll order. Heavy on the purse, the chef, the everything.
Foxit = You are hungry, you go the restaurant, order what you like, and you'll eat it. You can order more if you are still hungry. Light on the purse, the chef, the everything.

Re: Get on the Adobe Reader 9 Beta
Everyone prefer Foxit Reader. However I assume that the new PDF files will contain flash files--mostly video's and loads od Adds -- so how one should deal with that. Will Foxit release any add on for that?

Re: Get on the Adobe Reader 9 Beta
PDF is an ISO standard. Incorporating Flash will make it non ISO. Hopefully those releasing useful PDF documents (like journals) will not incorporate Flash inside. Also I think if there is no Flash support for some reader, only the Flash content will not display, but the text will be readable.
