Upgraded iMacs sport faster processors and more memory

Apple launched the upgraded range of iMacs today that feature no visual changes but have been bumped up to include faster processors and more memory as part of the standard configurations. The prices, for the most part, haven’t seen any changes.



The three models now ship with 2.4GHz, 2.66GHz and 2.8GHz processors, all of which sport 6MB shared L2 caches. The base model still has only 1GB of RAM, while the other two have been bumped up to 2GB each. The bus speeds for RAM modules have been ramped up to 800MHz across the board. Read more…

YAY! This is exactly what I was waiting for. 24-inch display, 3.06GHz processor, 4GB RAM, NVIDIA 8800GS graphics card and last, but certainly not the least, a freakin' 1TB 7200 rpm HDD.

When will the changes be reflected in the Indian stores? Also, why is there so much discrepancy between the Indian rates and the Dollar-equivalent rates from US? I understand that there are taxes, but still, it looks like the base iMac costs 1.2k USD in the US which roughly comes to 50k, but the Indian website gives the price as 65k, which is about 30% higher...
