Thanks again to everyone for nominating and voting in the Engadget Awards! We'll see you in a while for 2008!
*As you may recall, while not really gadgets released in 2007, both Vista and the Foleo were included by popular demand as nominees for worst gadget of the year.

Not quite. You see N95/N82 come under the smartphone category whereas K850i comes under the regular cell phone category. I don't know what exactly those people who voted for iPhone as the smartphone of the year were smoking. But WTH. My vote would always go for N82.

I know technically it is a smartphone. But officially there aren't any apps available for it yet. You have to hack it to install apps which can void your warranty. N82/N95 can install apps out-of-the-box. Plus they have a lot more apps available for them. Choosing the iPhone as the best smartphone when there are far more capable device available doesn't seem like the smartest thing to do, atleast to me.

Even without any apps it is still better than all those put together. The ease of use and the interface just blows all the competition out of the water.

I dont think those make it a smartphone.
Get real, It might be a great phone, but without the 2.0 firmware , it aint no smartphone , legally speaking.

What exactly does make a device a smartphone or not? I would really like to know.

Re: Engadget Awards 2007. iPhone wins again!
Yeah, isn't a smartphone supposed to be a phone that is smart?
In any case, the argument that the iPhone does not have any applications is just plain lame. It already has thousands of them, unofficially available, and come June, it will have thousands officially available too. And you know what, people will use both of them.
And it does not void the warranty. That's rubbish.

Re: Engadget Awards 2007. iPhone wins again!
I'm not saying iPhone is not a smartphone. All I'm saying is that there were a lot more worthy candidates for the best smartphone award. Anyway its over, iPhone won, so lets forget it.
Aayush what's up with Osama Bin Jobs avatar (or is it Steve Bin Laden)?

Sure, man. No problem at all. I just unlocked it for a friend in Siliguri whose uncle had bought it.

Re: Engadget Awards 2007. iPhone wins again!
The last day, someone was saying Gizmodo is run by a bunch of Apple fanboys. People keep saying this forum and the Digit magazine is biased in favour of Apple, and iPods in particular.
So, basically, if every famous mass-market technology publication favours the company, doesn't it strike you guys that maybe the company is worth being favoured?
It's ridiculous how every time some famous author or website publishes something in favour of the company and all of you come out of the woodwork, chanting "fanboy, fanboy, fanboy" and going ballistic.

Re: Engadget Awards 2007. iPhone wins again!
by looking at a gadgets features you can make your intelligent choice
btw Engadget editor choice is his own choice.. who cares wht that dumb guy has to say .. well at least not me.
if some leader says wrong stuff, its left to you to believe him or kick his ass !
and apple really makes cool stuff.. like mac book air.. which is amazingly slim. newer version of ipod which is like ok. not that good.
mac book air will suck if some one comes something better then that
when MS engineers agree that vista is not that good, i don't know why its fan boys disagree
