Default MS plans $3 Windows & Office Suite


I was reading a blog which was talking about a exec who planned o retire sometime soon, he was heading the - Unlimited Potential Group, now 1 of the projects that this group is carrying out is the $3 Windows and Office suite which will be offered through government-subsidized PC programs, this initiative is targeted towards developing nations to help them become Computer literate ... now praka & others please dont start ur crap leave this topic as a piece of news thats what it is

oh and yeah now that the exec is planning to retire this group is gonna be headed by an Indian - Anoop Gupta

with this project MS is actually hoping to comps as cheap as $200/$300 before govt subsidies, yeah i know the eeepc and stuff like that, just read the news and move on with ur life

Yes it does.

Now on topic it's nice to get Windows and Office for $3.

What remains to be seen is how feature rich these versions of Windows and Office are. For example, I read that in Windows starter edition, one cannot run more than a certain number of windows at a time in the taskbar, and there are certain other restrictions.

Offcourse it won't be full fledged.It will come with limitations for sure.
It would be better to use OOO then.

seriously y r v going ga-ga over a $3 USD Office copy, when it could be said with reasonable confidence that a free OOO and linux is a lot more feature rich and no restriction at all

starter Ed allows only 3 programs to run simul - with linux bcoming more and more user-fiendly M.S will have to do a lot of thinking to stay in the game
