Google Launches Future Search - gDay
Google Launches Future Search

Google Australia launched Gday
today, a new search engine that allows users to search a day in advance of real time:
Google spiders crawl publicly available web information and our index of historic, cached web content. Using a mashup of numerous factors such as recurrence plots, fuzzy measure analysis, online betting odds and the weather forecast from the iGoogle weather gadget, we can create a sophisticated model of what the internet will look like 24 hours from now.The technology behind Gday is called Mate, which stands for Machine Automated Temporal Extrapolation.
We can use this technique to predict almost anything on the web – tomorrow’s share price movements, sports results or news events. Plus, using language regression analysis, Google can even predict the actual wording of blogs and newspaper columns, 24 hours before they’re written!
To rank these future pages in order of relevance, gDay™ uses a statistical extrapolation of a page’s future PageRank, called SageRank.

Re: Google Launches Future Search - gDay
rofl... Nice...
Q: How accurate is gDay™? A: Anywhere between 75% and 95%. It depends on the website in question and the day of the week (for example, our spiders don’t work Sundays).http://twitter.com/akshayms

Also Youtube RickRoll's its users

If you aren’t familiar with RickRolling - it’s when someone puts a link on website to something, but it actually takes you to a music video of Rick Astley’s “hit” song Never Gonna Give You Up.
YouTube is RickRolling its own users on April 1. All of the featured videos for YouTube UK and YouTube Australia actually link to the Rick Astley video. We’ll see if YouTube.com does the same at midnight EST tonight, too.
This is ok, but not nearly as funny as it would be if the YouTube team broke into the Google search servers and simply redirected Google.com to the video. Now that would be funny.
More coverage of this here.

lets see what all they come up with still

Build Your Very Own Google Airplane

If you create a new document in Google Docs
, you’ll see a number of options in the “File” pull down menu. One of those options, which as far as I can tell wasn’t there yesterday, is “New airplane.” It’s right there after “New document.”
Choosing it opens a new file with folding instructions to build a paper airplane.
Why? Dunno. This is strange even for Google. Even on April Fools.
First reader to print it out, fold it properly, video it actually flying, upload the video on YouTube or any other video sharing service and post a link in the comments below gets a 2GB iPod Shuffle
in the color of your choice. And we’ll give a second one to whoever can get the most distance from their plane (this is going to be somewhat subjective, I’ll make the final decision) (this is alwaysentertaining). Thanks for the tip, Jonathan Chard. The pdf of the image is here.

As you can see from above, Micheal held a competition for actually making the plane and posting the video of the flying paper plane in youtube
