Firefox 4 Alpha 1 Released For Download

With Firefox 4 Alpha 1 the browser war seems all set to heat up once again.

Internet Explorer 8 looks promising this time, but Firefox is surely taking the lead, with Firefox 4 supporting Javascript 2 already into the pipeline, the future seems to be with Firefox.

Downloaded but it is not working in Vista right now. It is showing some error messages saying some side by side application stopped working.

^Not yet.FF Beta 4 is due release soon.
And they have said it would hit Beta 5 too.

Yes, you are right. I have the pre Beta 5 version in my PC. Only some minor changes were made there.

pages also open faster than the last one i used.i think glan paradiso alpha.

this sometimes gives connection error but next beta\a full release will be just great !

And the GranParadiso you used was Alpha build of FF3.

In Open Source world usually project teams work on more than 1 release at a time. Quite a few projects have 3 working releases out of which, one is current - no new features added, only bug fixes and security patches, testing release - where new features are added and last is cutting edge - this one works on the newest softwares and technology around but chances are most of the early releases will be totally unusable by anyone other than the developers.

ax3 - No they aren't. They are just in hurry to speed up schedules to become the best browser. They don't wage war like IE does. Mozilla never compares its features for marketing unlike IE.

so it is common for testing releases.

Try it only when you Dealing with bugs & want to help in FF Development.

No offense, i am not even a FF user, but this ideology does not go down well with me. Why not divert your resources to the thing in hand rather than spread out all over the place. A bird in hand is worth 2 in the bush.

They are receiving some criticism for the lack of innovative features in FF3, something which had got them the users in FF1. I have not followed FF's development or releases closely in a very long time, so if i have missed a really innovative or a feature which is strong enough to pull users from other browsers, do let me know. Please dont say the security and stuff.

They have not even fulfilled their announcemnt of Vista Aero look in FF3. Is the UI and the GFX of the browser so hard to develop? We are not even talking about WPF, just let it look like a native windows application.
I hope they finish the UI tranformation by the time FF3 is released, i would install it and use it occasionally then.

FF is a very nice and an innovative way of browsing, with all the extensions to improve your experience. But the current UI simply turns me off.

Actually, they are not quite dividing the resources.
FF2 is already stable, meaning no development only bug fixes.
So no developers needed.

FF3 is now at beta 4 and close to being released.
Most of the work has been done and again only bug fixes to make it stable for the release.
It is at this point they start on a new version FF4.

And AFAIK FF3 Beta 3 itself brought native UI look to all three platforms.
Windows, Mac and Linux.
You should try FF3Beta4, seriously a lot has been changed.
And yeah even i hated the UI and if you thought the UI looked out of place on Windows , try looking at it in Linux where the windowish icons look terribly out of place.
But FF3 has now support for GTK+ on Linux and is looking way better.

Just give it a whirl and lemme know how you feel.

I installed FF B4 yesterday, but no, this is not the native windows vista look and everyone here knows that.
The native look for Mac has been released, but it is still missing in Vista.
I did not know that B4 was not yet released, i found it on filehippo. My bad and also Filehippo's.

But if you see this screenshot , it looks pretty native IMO.
