Default NVIDIA to launch nForce 700i IGPs in April/Aug 2008

I was doing some research on nVidia 630i Integrated Graphics boards. I read in many reviews that the nVidia 610/630i IGP boards have this major issues:

Quote:
* Supports only Single Channel Memory
* Performance of GeForce 7050/7150 in some cases is less than its rival Intel X3100 graphics chipset.
So decided to find some info about nForce 700i IGPs. Here is the info in brief:

Quote:
* Supports Dual Channel Memory
* 8200/8300 GeForce Graphic Chipsets (so support for DX 10)
* Support for SLI along with Hybrid SLI (PCI-E + IGP working in tandem)
* PCI-E 2.0 support
* Supports DisplayPort along with HDMI, DVI & D-Sub (the 3 are present in n610/n630 series)
So, I will wait till April the nForce 700i chipset series comes out.

Some Excerpts from the above links:

Quote:

According to information from motherboard manufacturers given to Digitimes, Nvidia should launch new IGPs under the name MCP7A in April to counter Intel’s G4x.

They will set themselves apart from the GeForce 7xx0-nForce 6x0i launched at the end of September by memory management on two channels, DirectX 10 and Hybrid SLI support as well as by the presence of the PureVideo HD engine. Furthermore, we can logically expect PCI-Express 2.0 support. Note that in August the Californian firm should also offer an MCP7C which is limited to DDR2-800 memory and this on one channel.

@shadow2get: nice self researched news post. I hope others learn something from you.

whats the fugging point of giving DX 10 onboard when DX 10.1 is out ? Intel already is deciding to give GMA X3500. So why is nvidia giving 8300 ? It should be atleast 9350.

PS: I wonder what AMD is doing.

From THIS news article, I gather, DX 11 will be out only by the end of 2008 / start of 2009.

I don't think DX 11 will be out with the Intel GMA X3500/X4500. Have a look at this link:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Intel_GMA#GMA_X3500

They support only upto DX 10.0 in terms of Game/Application Development.

I think NVIDIA do it this way for releasing the IGPs.

First, they release Discrete Graphics Cards for PCs. Then they move to releasing Chipsets/Cards for the Laptops/Other Mobile Platforms. Then they release the IGPs & release such that the performance of:

IGP < Laptop Chipset < PC

Recently, NVIDIA have released the 9300M G & 9500M GS for the Laptop platform. Check this link below:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/GeForce...orce_9M_Series

So my assumption is that they will be releasing the 9 series IGPs in a few months.

is this true?
Performance of GeForce 7050/7150 in some cases is less than its rival Intel X3100 graphics chipset.??

The performance difference is very negligible when compared to the X3100 chipset. Actually its main rival is X3000 series which it beats in most of the test categories.

I have read some reviews about the n630i chipsets. You can have a look here:

nForce 630i Motherboards
XFX nForce 630i Socket 775 mATX Motherboard
MSI P6NGM (NVIDIA GeForce 7150/nForce 630i)
GIGABYTE GA-73UM-S2H - GeForce 7150 IGP

A Quick Look at NVIDIA's MCP73 Motherboard GPU

I actually found an AMD review of the upcoming nForce 700i IGP featuring a 8200. Here is the link:
