Default Intel Core 2 Duo E8500 Wolfdale CPU

Kinda review, though...

Just in case you hopped right down to the news and missed the fresh link at the top of the page, we’re writing to let you all know that we have just posted a new article here at HotHardware in which we evaluate the features and performance of Intel’s recently released, Wolfdale-based Core 2 Duo E8500 processor. The E8500 uses Intel’s 45nm Penryn derived Wolfdale core, with a 3.16GHz clock speed, 6MB of L2 cache, and support for SSEE4.1. Overall, even in its stock configuration this processor was a strong performer, while consuming less power than Intel’s previous generation 65nm products. But while overclocked to over 4GHz on air-cooling alone, it put up some truly impressive benchmark scores. Click the link below and take a look...

I'd prefer a Yorkfield over a Wolfdale , considering it's about to arrive soon .

No need to post in every thread unnecessarily. Post only if you have anything to contribute. Most of your posts are just "thanks for the news".

The Fact that it's 45nm suffices .

Gigahertz anything >2.4 is fine otherwise OCing is always there .

but Core2 is dying. I feel its better to wait till Nehalem arrives to make an upgrade(of a dramatic, high end configuration type)

Guys, that way you ll just keep waiting always.. IMO wolfdales are good enuf to last until atleast intel switches to a 32nm fab.
