I told you, your needs are different from mine. I am not a windows oriented guy. I am a web cum linux oriented guy.
Ok... your personal opinion.
I am saying all these because I think you are missing some great live features. I will request you to sign up a test live Id, and see how many spams you get.

Just avoid posting your Id in useless forms.

recently (may be 2 months old) I created a @live.in ID..and yet I have not received any spam.

Spot on! The biggest drawback of hotmail (being heavy).

As long as it doesn't crash or downtimes/security problems this hardly matters.

True. IMHO what you need is MallikaMail

For me except speed, for everything else Hotmail = GMail for all the features I use. Hotmail is just too heavy. Thats the only complaint against hotmail. Oh yea, one more: No free pop/imap support. That sux! Spam filter is better than Yahoo's equal to GMail but many times wrongly marks proper mails as spam. My first ID way back when hotmail was released to public was with this service.

I'm a strict hater of the web 2.0 interface in mail services. So whenever I'm not on my laptop (away from mail client) what do I do? I disable ajax UI of yahoo, I disable chat service in gmail and use the standard version of Hotmail. I'm still a happy user

its too late to give windows mail a third chance now, when I am already comfortable with GMail.
the very fact that it runs on a Windows Server makes it more vulnerable to viruses.
but please do tell me what are the stuff I can expect seeing in hotmail since I ditched it in 2006.
