Why Google wants Microsoft to buy Yahoo
Publicly, Google has fought against Microsoft's attempt to take over Yahoo, but there are some reasons to believe that Google would be very pleased to see the deal go through --- it could seriously weaken its two main rivals, and be one of the best things that ever happened to the search giant.
Start off with the very nature of the Microsoft move --- it's a hostile takeover. For months, while the fight goes on, Microsoft and Yahoo will be fighting each other, rather than their common enemy, Google.
When the deal does go through (and inevitably it will), things will get even better for Google. Combining two massive companies with thoroughly different cultures, and a good deal of duplicative products and efforts, will be a gargantuan task. It will take literally years of political infighting, reorganization, and corporate nastiness before things get straight, if they ever do get straight. During all that time, Microhoo (or will it be YahSoft?) will be distracted and focused inward, and Google will be continuing to innovate, and become even more dominant.

ya ^^ he is right ya ^^ he is right ya ^^ he is right
ok ... the best thing to win google is to make a search engine page .. sepearte...simple...
if i need to search .. i go to apage only with a spaceto enter u r query and search.. , its simple to use instead of other search where u have to go yahoo page and wait for the whole page to load ... and use thier search function.. this sucks... this is were google wins.. As far as i know...
another main reason is thier engine itself...
anyway .. good thinking by google.. eluiminate enemy.....
and rule theworld by 3008

Re: Why Google wants Microsoft to buy YahooWhy Google wants Microsoft to buy Yahoo
Absolutely. But on the other hand, if Microsoft keeps Yahoo! the way it is and concentrate more on Yahoo's positives over MSN, it can give some serious competition to Google.
1) Take over Yahoo
2) Concentrate on Yahoo's profit bringing business and leave the others the way they are
3) Shutdown MSN's only-for-namesake portals (where yahoo's similar portal has webtraffic)
I don't think MS will merge Yahoo! into MSN.
eg: look at Hotmail. Only now, they changed the name to Windows Live Hotmail. Internally, it's more or less the same and they didn't merge it into MSN mail.

Re: Why Google wants Microsoft to buy Yahoo
Slightly offtopic ...
What I like best about Google is - its simplicity. It is KISS always.
The google search, picassa, gmail, google talk and everything form google is very simple to use at the same time, powerful. No flashy distracting ads or other stuff. Clean, neat interface and simple to use and I think that is one of the secrets behind its success.
I do not think MSN / LIVE / Yahoo is that much simple / neat.

Re: Why Google wants Microsoft to buy Yahoo
I feel live ids are much better than Gmail. And where is complexity in Live Ids???
Infact... Live Ids have almost 50% less ads than Gmail page.

Re: Why Google wants Microsoft to buy Yahoo
I find Gmail ads better coz they are basically Adsense ads and hence they are related to content thus making them useful more often than not.
The only downside is that Gmail crawls our mails to deliver those ads

Re: Why Google wants Microsoft to buy Yahoo
IMHO, Microsoft is wasting its money in acquiring Yahoo.
It already boasts of MSN Live, Hotmail and Live Search.
In its current position, its better that it leaves Yahoo to recover rather than give a helping hand basically why does M$ want to buy a company which has similar product line to its own.
