MacBook Air has issues, says Apple
MacBook Air users might need to move their new ultrathin laptops to keep bits moving to and fro, Apple Inc. said in a note on its support site, just one of several problems posted now that the new portable has started shipping.
Among the documents that populate the support section Apple unveiled this week was one that outlined an issue between MacBook Air and some external monitors. "If your MacBook Air is closed and an external display is your only display, you may notice a reduction of throughput for wireless networks that use the 2.4-GHz band," Apple said in a document published on the newly opened MacBook Air section of the company's online support site.

Re: MacBook Air has issues, says Apple
guess apple did make a mistake in making MacBook Airs... But its nothing to worry about, because those are products that nobody is intrested in, atleast when it comes to the majority. Sure, the iPhone, MacBook, iMac and other macintoshes may generate intrest, but why invest in an 80K laptop that is special in no way ecept being thin ? Its not even small, being given a 15" screen. Atleast a 10" or 7" screen would have done some justice to its existance, in a market dominated by the ASUS EEE PC.

Re: MacBook Air has issues, says Apple
I wonder if they are using the screen body (rim) as an antenna, that would explain the drop in the signal

You seriously think someone who is willing to spend 96k/$1800 on a laptop is going to consider the Tata nano?

Re: MacBook Air has issues, says Apple
ontopic:
sure, this MBA is not worth the looks
Quote:
With all the hype around the Macbook Air, we’re blind to see that this laptop although is an amazing piece of engineering, it sucks big time ! Why?-
It’s too expensive. Add the 64GB SSD drive and it’s extremely prohibitive.
- No optical drive. This means you have to beg others to let you install a software Apple gave you on their PC so you have access to their drive.
- No ethernet port. That makes the Remote Disk software useless if the PC you’re trying to connect to doesn’t have wireless.
- Only 1 USB port. So you’ll need a USB hub, one more thing to carry around… that’s not portability
- Battery not user Replaceable Unlike 99% of other laptops out there, the battery is not user replaceable.
- Mono Speakers The built in speakers on the Macbook Air are weak and sound airy (sorry) from the hands-on videos so far. Worst of all, they’re mono, not stereo! Are we back in the 90s?
- Fixed RAM The Macbook Air ships with 2GB of RAM by default. This RAM is onboard though, meaning there is no option to upgrade or to add more RAM.
- Slow Processor 1.6 C2D by default is amongst the slowest Core 2 Duo processors you can get.
- Slow 1.8″ Hard drive The base model comes with a 1.8″ hard drive. As most computer enthusiasts know, 1.8″ hard drives top out at 4,200rpm
- It’s too thin! I would not drop it, or stand on it !!

if you add a 64 GB SSD, it will cost 50K more.
for that price, you can buy a MacBookPro if you are an apple fan, or a custom Dell XPS if you want power.
And yes, the Eee PC is the king in this segment as of today.
The ACi Ultra Mini Is going to be another contender.
But this laptop(mac book air) makes no sence at all. I would rather buy a high end gaming XPS, or a MacBook (normal basic version). Either will be more powerful, and the later will also help save lots of money for upgrades, games, etc.
