Thumbs up Macworld 2008 Conference and Expo - An Unbiased Perspective with Poll

The Macworld 2008 Conference and Expo (About), organised every year by the IDG World Expo (About), is the biggest Macintosh community event of the year. The Keynote is given by the Steve Jobs, CEO, Apple Inc. It is one of the flagship tech events conducted by the publishing house major along with other conferences like Linuxworld, E3 expo.

A visibly excited Jobs begun the keynote with the previous year performance results like the 4 Billion iPhones sold in the timespan of exactly 200 days, 5 Billion copies of Leopard shipped in 3 months, and the 4 Billion songs sold till date over iTunes. The major highlights of this year was the announcement of MacBook Air (a.k.a. MBA ) - the much awaited and rumoured ultraportable from the Apple Macbook stable and the iTunes Movie rentals.

Steve Pitches the MBA at CNBC :
http://www.tuaw.com/2008/01/15/steve...k-air-at-cnbc/

The announcement of the MBA was preceded by quite a number of things like the Time Capsule - the NAS which is sexy, free update for Apple iPhone, $20 update with five new apps for iPod Touch and Apple TV Take 2. The major disappointment was that there was no 3G iPhone announcement and not much info about the iPhone SDK. As I can see the Reality Distortion Field cast by Jobs is having great effect, I thought there should be an unbiased opinion poll with news sources to clear things up.

Apple investors miss one more thing :

Engadget Coverage of Macworld 2008:

Quote:

It was a big first day at Macworld -- maybe not iPhone big, but certainly big enough. We know most anyone who's not into Apple (and even a few who are) is ready for their regularly scheduled programming to return, and the good news is, for you, the Apple glut is over. But if you're not quite ready to let go (or missed the real-time wall to wall coverage), check it all out below.

Keynote
MacBook Air
iPhone / iPod Touch
More (groan!) after the break.

iTunes movie rentals
Apple TV
Time Capsule

Was this thread really necessary?
I mean, you could have easily posted all this info on the other (previous) macworld thread...

If I posted this in that thread all the info would have been buried in the mindless arguments going on over there. I felt that clear info is not given in the introduction of the other thread. They are crippled.

Thats why I opened a new thread to list all the news sources and the intro here makes sense instead of giving skewed info. Also the poll options are highly biased in the another thread.

Even if people didnt reply to this thread atleast they will see. That is what I want.

Two Polls in Engadget:

1) Poll: Did you pre-order a MacBook Air?
http://www.engadget.com/2008/01/15/p...a-macbook-air/

Did you pre-order a MacBook Air?

You bet! I'd pay anything for all that sexy - 2519 (6.8%)
Not yet, but I'm close to nailing that Submit button - 9032 (24.5%)
Not a chance! (see my reasons / rant below) - 25302 (68.7%)

2) Poll: Are you spending $20 on new iPod touch apps?
http://www.engadget.com/2008/01/15/p...od-touch-apps/

Are you shelling out to update your iPod touch?

Yes! How else will I know what the weather's like? - 6211 (18.9%)

Hell no -- and I'm pissed that the iPhone and
Apple TV got free updates today and the touch didn't - 11841 (36.1%)

Dude, it's called jailbreaking. Have you heard of it? - 9834 (30.0%)

Who cares? For $20 I can totally get a new Zune tattoo - 4891 (14.9%)

While most users will buy the iPod touch updates cause $20 isn't much by any standards, it still is a cheap stunt that Apple has pulled off...
