Nvidia readies mid-range GeForce 9600 GT
Nvidia has begun attempting to tempt its graphics card manufacturer partners with the GeForce 9600 GT chip, leaked presentation slides have revealed. Nvidia will pitch the part as "big on performance, easy on the wallet".
The GPU, apparently codenamed 'D9M', is a DirectX 10, Shader Model 4.0 product designed for PCI Express 2.0 cards. It'll be fabbed at 65nm, and Nvidia claims it will deliver a performance boost of up to 90 per cent over the GeForce 8600 GTS.

Re: Nvidia readies mid-range GeForce 9600 GT
^^initial prices are gonna be highly exaggerated.This is how there biatches work.Don't expect a price lower than 40-50k for 9800gtx and 10-12k for 9600gt.

Re: Nvidia readies mid-range GeForce 9600 GT
@ x3060
same for me..I didn't get 8600GT coz there is only minor performance boost from ma current 7600GT. ill make up for it with gud ocing like 690/1620 clocks.
i was thinking bout 8800GT nd the new 8800GS, but wait. I can play 90% games at gud quality on ma current monitor's max res now. So i think i can hold the horses till 9600 nd 9800.

Besides gaming I have no use for that card. I don't use my PC for anything other than music, internet, movies. I had bought the card with an intention to game, but I just can't do it

Re: Nvidia readies mid-range GeForce 9600 GT
Thanks Gigacore for the info.
Though its 90% more performance over the 8600GTS i still suggest that people wait for the 9800GT 256MB which will not only be cheaper to some extent but also cost effective with over 14,000 in 3D Mark for sure.
The 90% means 8200-9500 to 3DMark06.

Re: Nvidia readies mid-range GeForce 9600 GT
Hi guys
9600GT benchs released
VR-Zone claims to have some benchmarks of NVIDIA's upcoming GeForce 9600 GT graphics card, which will be the first of the GeForce 9 series of cards that the company will release. However, as always with benchmarks for unreleased products, take these with a pinch of salt - as often as not they're totally made up.

Re: Nvidia readies mid-range GeForce 9600 GT
9600 GT definately seems a good buy BUT
8800 ultra prices will fall surely so once 9800 ULTRA is released we should get 8800 ultra as the prices will be very cheap........

Re: Nvidia readies mid-range GeForce 9600 GT
@dominator
why is that the 8800GT 256 MB score more than the 512 MB version in the 3d mark score.....is it to prove that those benchies are fake ??
@iMav
one reason would be that the prices for Ati products are priced very high here in india...and also i saw somewhere(probably in anandtech) that the 256 MB 8800GT falls right between the 3850 and 3870 512 MB parts in performance....
