iPhone gets PS1 Emulator

Totally Unbelievable news ! Its not even 6 months since the first iPhone 3rd Party app, we now have SMS forwarding, MMS, Video Recording, VOIP, Direct to flickR uploads, some awesome themes, NES/GBA Emulation, GPS Capability, and lots of other fun stuffs and NOW we already have a Beta Stage PS1 Emulator !

Hey, they are still third party apps...
And yes, iPhone is not a useless device, its just been launched without exploring the finer elements.
I think apple needs to start an Application Certification system for iPhone, so that people can get their apps to be registered for being safe to use on an iPhone, otherwise people may end up voiding guarentee thanks to bad apps.

Anyway, I guess the iPhone is picking up pace, almost like the EEE PC.

I can't wait now for a full-fledged Linux Distribution to hit the iPhone, and also for the iPhone to come in a 7" Screen Tablet PC version, with a 1 GHz processor and 512 MB RAM.

I still hate calling apple innovative. They are just user friendly and give products based on what we need, but they still can't be called innovative.

A Mobile Device, having a Playstation Emulator, is not something you see every day ! This further shows the 3D Capabilities of the iPhone !

1. the iPod has a gba emulator
2. the eee pc has a gba, nes, gb, snes, psx emulator

The EEE PC has 256Mb DDR2 RAM + a 900MHz Processor ! Ever heard of hardware capabilities ? The PS1 Emulator for this is no big deal as the hardware is pretty powerful. But for a Device as small as the iPhone with limited Hardware its not that easy to try and make a PS1 Emulator !

Even the PS1 Emulator for the PSP was made possible only by Sony themselves. Almost all 3rd Party efforts were in vain :roll:

A 600Mhz Processor....running at 400Mhz with BUS Frequency 100Mhz, 116 Mb RAM out of which user has access to 92.16 Mb.

Please dont call them 3rd party apps.. There are no legal 3rd party apps for the iphone.

all are installed via jailbreak. a new update can make the iphone into an ibrick. just be careful.

The official SDK for Apple iPhone is to be released only during February 2008
and long after that only you will be getting native 3rd party apps which have to pass the Apple code verification/signature program like the way Symbian does.

the so called '3rd party apps' you are referring to are illegal and can only be installed by jailbreaking (read: unlocking) the iPhone.

also using unlocked iphone is illegal. since ppl were buying in large quantities, unlocking them and selling them abroad, Apple introduced security measures like buying only through 'credits cards' and accepting no cash etc. etc.

so yeah, if you are using the iPhone in India, it is Illegal as it is not officially launched. and if you update to the latest released firmware before unlocking softwares are updated, you run a high risk of bricking the iphone.

I think you need to understand the Definition of "Illegal" !

adj.

1. Prohibited by law.
2. Prohibited by official rules: an illegal pass in football.

3rd Party Applications are not Prohibited by Law nor any Official Rules. No one can do a fish if you have them installed in your iPhone.

The only thing you can say is they're not Officially Supported by Apple. Thats IT ! You cannot term them Illegal !

Unlocking ones own iPhone again is NOT Illegal ! Once you purchased any item, it your personal property ! You can do whatever the fish you wanna do with it ! No one can take you to the Court for that !

JailBreaking doesn't mean Unlocking ! Unlocking is a totally different thing wherein the Baseband is patched inorder to work with other Carriers. JailBreaking is simply getting root access to the System inorder for 3rd Party Applications to get installed.

A JailBreaked-only iPhone should not Brick if updated !
