Windows Vista
Any operating system that provokes a campaign for its predecessor's reintroduction deserves to be classed as terrible technology. Any operating system that quietly has a downgrade-to- previous-edition option introduced for PC makers deserves to be classed as terrible technology. Any operating system that takes six years of development but is instantly hated by hordes of PC professionals and enthusiasts deserves to be classed as terrible technology.
Windows Vista conforms to all of the above. Its incompatibility with hardware, its obsessive requirement of human interaction to clear security dialogue box warnings and its abusive use of hated DRM, not to mention its general pointlessness as an upgrade, are just some examples of why this expensive operating system earns the final place in our terrible tech list.

About 6 months ago, when I first used Vista it sucked like anything. I reinstalled Vista (home premium) 2 months ago.

Now, after getting so many updates, believe me, it didn't crash or hang or never showed problem in 7 weeks and it's rocksolid performance surprised me.

IMHO, buy genuine copy and get all the performance/reliability updates and it will be good.
It's definitely not one of the top 10 tech products. Could be in top 100

I totally disagree with him.
I think he has never used vista.. If said about DX10 AND DX9 games..looking the same..
I dont think he has played bioshock.more over this directX is a new version and will need some time to get the best out of it.
When xp came,there were similar stuffs like this one...cursing xp,look at them now,all praising.
Vista will go thru this hell initially and will SURELY EMERGE AS THE ONE AND ONLY BEST OS ..!

My personal opinion is that vista is not as bad as it has been projected to be.. Its quite good, and that doesn't mean only eyecandy.. But it still needs to improve a lot to replace XP.

I'm sure that this'll be a problem for quuite some time to come, until vista becomes more stable, probably until SP1 releases..

^yes,Im and many millions of users and corporates worry about Vista's rootkit DRM which when someone cracks makes ur system a paradise for crackers!and ur privacy is gone too.

I used Vista from release date till a month ago (with a few reinstalls in between). When I finally downgraded to XP, I suddenly found my PC to be screaming fast! I was planning on upgrading to something C2D but what pleasantly surprised with this new found performance of my PC. So yeah, it should be at No. 1.
