Ubuntu 7.10"Gutsy Gibbon" Realeased!!!
Guys after so much waiting & ubuntu is released

Quote:
Ubuntu 7.10 Adds Enhanced User Interface, Integrated Desktop Search, Plug and Play Printing
The familiar old script that Linux is only for geeks has been largely rewritten recently with the arrival of Ubuntu, a version of Linux for the average user. In its three years on the scene, Ubuntu has quickly gained a reputation for being easy to configure and use.
On Thursday, Canonical, the London-based company which acts as Ubuntu's commercial sponsor, released version 7.10 of the software. This latest release, dubbed "Gutsy Gibbon," proves that Ubuntu Linux can compete with and, in some cases, trump Windows as an everyday desktop system when it comes to pure usability.
Gamers and hardcore media hounds may still feel left out -- DVDs were a little bit tricky, and the lack of support for popular games, a long-time Linux gripe, is still evident here -- but we found playing music and watching movies in the new Ubuntu to be every bit as pleasant as it is under OS X or Windows.

(11:56:37) tonyyarusso: That way they get the most bandwidth-intensive part done overnight. After that, rsync does just incremental changes to the files.
(11:56:57) tonyyarusso: So, the files are up, and about the right size for an ISO, but still not the final product.
(11:57:59) tonyyarusso: Meanwhile, having people download those does 2 things: 1) hammers bandwidth that's needed for rsyncing the changes so it CAN be final, and 2) users may end up with something that's not really the right, final product without knowing it.
(11:58:07) tonyyarusso: Hope that clears it up a bit
For those who want to download it, please wait until it is officially released on ubuntu.com

Re: Ubuntu 7.10"Gutsy Gibbon" Realeased!!!
I had downloaded Ubuntu 7.10 with great expectations. To my dismay i found after installation that, i wasnt able to configure the broadband. On issuing the sudo pppoeconf, i get this
"Sorry, I scanned 1 interface(s), but the Access Concentrator of your provider did not respond. Please check the network card and modem cables. Another reason for the scan failure may be another running pppoe process which controls the modem"
It worked without any hiccups in 7.04. Did some research of my own, came to know many faced it, even posted it in the ubuntu forum, but to no avail.
