Default Windows Live SkyDrive beta update - 1GB Storage now

Quote:
These past couple of months since our last release, we asked ourselves, “What can we do to make SkyDrive even better?” The most obvious answer is something that our users have asked us to do: give out more storage. We’re excited to announce that we’re doubling everyone’s storage to 1 GB!

Many users told us, “Hey, we want to be notified when someone adds a file to a specific folder,” so we added RSS feeds to public folders. To subscribe to an RSS feed, go to the public folder that you’re interested in, and click on the orange RSS Feed icon

http://by1.storage.msn.com/y1pKj1gJY...PARTNER=WRITERat the top right of the page. Then, anytime that folder is updated, you’ll be notified. We love this feature because we get notified as soon as our friends upload new files to their folders.

Another thing users told us is that it’s difficult to share a folder with people that aren’t in your address book. People said, “We have to go to Hotmail or Messenger in order to add someone to our address books. Why can’t we just do it on SkyDrive itself?” We fixed that. Now, you can share with anyone directly from SkyDrive by typing in your friend’s e-mail address.

Finally, users told us that it would be nice to know who uploaded each file. So, we now display the name of the person that added each file.

I am waiting for their desktop client, they cannot compete with Xdrive unless they come up with a desktop integration.

But still, just 2 GB? When they are offering 5 Gb as the mail storage.

I seriously feel all the Online Service providers like Google, Yahoo and Live should move to the per account storage limit instead of the per service storage limit.

Instead of giving me 5 Gb mail storage, 1 Gb file storage, 100 mb photo stoage, give me 7 GB Live Account storage. Let me use as and how i like it! You still are not giving unlimited storage, the 5Gb you are providing me with for mails, let me store my files in that 5 GB instead.

It takes money to provide online storage space. I would say that just provide a unified 5 GB account shared between Windows Live mail, photos, spaces etc

ATM I think 1GB is fine. It reduces clutter and urges us to keep it clean. Also how many of us actually haf the bandwidth and patience to upload that much here in India?

By the time we get more speed and bandwidth the limit will surely go up!
