Sony will no longer use the standard DVD format in its video recorders, instead moving to Blu-ray Disc for all future models in Japan.
Sony Corp. is increasing its bet on Blu-ray Disc and plans to ditch DVD and use the high-definition video disc format in all future digital video recorders in Japan, the company said Wednesday.
Sony is forcing us to buy Blu-Ray disks, if we wan 2 use their digicams
v must have d option of choosing wat media do v wan 2 record d data
its like MS sayin u can only install Vista on a SATA or sumthin?
v r not askin it to support HD-DVD or sumthin but it shud at least offer backward compatibitly with d older formats, till the time when DVDs become truly obsolete (which it defintely is not)

u mean its not backward compatible. i thought it is. Anyway its happening in Japan. it may be that half of the people must have already switched 2 it as Japan is a total tech country.
