DDR3 RAM around the corner
Source: http://www.tomshardware.com/2007/08/...ddr3-1800_ram/
Frequency will be close to 2Ghz. I am still using DDR RAM with 400Mhz speed.

Re: DDR3 RAM around the corner
DDR3 is fine.. but look at the latencies! you gain extra bandwidth at the cost of higher latencies.

Re: DDR3 RAM around the corner
well the gfx board and a motherboard are very different. the components on a gfx board (the proc, ram etc.) can be integrated relatively easier than that on a motherboard.

Re: DDR3 RAM around the corner
It's quite old news, anyways: The Super Talent DDR3 Memory sticks are the fastest now which had the capacity to reach ~2100MHz. And also, these things are darn expensive as of now. A 1GB pair costs you almost 20K. And also the recent trend that motherboard manufacturers have shown in sticking with DDR2 even after Intel P35 and X38 chipsets which support DDR3 were on the board tells us that DDR3 is not going to be available easily and as cheaply as DDR2 RAM atleast for another 1~2 years.

dude, there's a lot of difference between GDDR and DDR. The one on graphics cards are GDDR and not DDR.

Actually, the recently launched Cellshock DDR3 modules are currently the best and the cost is ~24k. It's still not time to buy DDR3 yet, though.

Re: DDR3 RAM around the corner
People haven't even started using SLI ready memory in India and some not even abroad.

Re: DDR3 RAM around the corner
There is no such thing as SLI-ready memory, it's just silly marketing teams hoping consumers fall further for their cr@p.

NVIDIA SLI-Ready system memory certification ensures compatibility and system stability with the rest of the SLI ecosystem components including NVIDIA nForce SLI motherboards, NVIDIA GeForce GPUs, and SLI-Ready power supplies. SLI-Ready memory also supports Enhanced Performance Profiles (EPP). When paired with NVIDIA nForce 680i SLI, 680i LT SLI or 590 SLI AMD edition-based motherboards, SLI-Ready memory exposes advanced performance memory settings.
Only memory that pass NVIDIA SLI certification can be called "NVIDIA SLI-Ready certified." Be sure to look for the NVIDIA SLI-Ready badge when you buy your system memory.

SLI ready memory is not going to help on a non SLI motherboard.

Re: DDR3 RAM around the corner
@entrana: $80 is after rebate which u may hardly get (My cousin has been waiting for months to get his rebate but still no luck)...so r u sure you are getting the rebate..otherwise this memory will cost you $115 + shipping
Infact I saw ATI-certified 2 GB OCZ RAM for Rs. 9,200/- on yantraonline.in. Since SLI-Ready memory costs the same (atleast at newegg.com) you can get this memory for the same price (ie. Rs. 9,200/-) here.
