Thumbs down International roaming is a rip-off

Source: http://economictimes.indiatimes.com/...ow/2336672.cms

As is national roaming. Hutch charged upto Rs.1.75 per min for incoming calls, Rs.2.40 per minute for outgoing calls and Rs.3.45 per SMS during my recent trip to AP.

When will mobile operators give cheaper rates on roaming?

as for national roaming, how much more cheap do you want? i think 1.75 incoming and 2.40/min for outgoing is quite fair. jus compare the rates till a few months ago....

^^^Hmmm, quite true. But I think it is still expensive, when compared to the fact that local Hutch-Hutch calls for me cost 30p/min.

On a broader perspective, I think there should not be anything called roaming charge throughout India. Rates should be same everywhere in India. Also call costs should be the same for all mobile operators.

BSNL offers free national roaming and these private cellular services are not ready to open their eyes.

Not really for me the outgoing and incoming are at Re. 1 each, that is just at the same rate that i pay for std calls. that is ok, i remeber the first time i had called a std call at 24rs/min it is quite cheap now.

The less said about BSNL's network, the better.
