THIEF Gold !!!

I bought THIEF Gold (the first of the Thief series with additional maps) from a nearby Game store about 2 years ago.

I couldn't play it then 'cause of misc reasons.
Then finally I laid hands on it last year's Jan.
It was definitely one of the games I was thinking of day & night.

Now that my class XII exams are going to be over, I think of finishing off the game (I had a backup of all the savegames before I formatted my machine and loaded XP + SP2)

Last year, I played the game with XP without any SP or any such updates
I had to play it under the compatibility mode.
But ever since I installed the SP2, the game crashes to the desktop without showing any error. Sometimes, windows XP shows that the app has caused an error and needs to close.
I am fed up the stinkin' Crash mesages !!!

What should I do to play the game (I don't mind playing from the beginning at all !) ?

The game refuses to start with XP + SP2.

I do not want to uninstall SP2 since it is imp for the security of my comp.

H-E-L-P Please !!!!!!!!!

Can any1 suggest to play such a game without uninstalling XP's SP2 ?

check the website and see if they have any patches for thief GOLD. A lot of programs dont work with SP2. I wanted to play freedom force after a long time and it didnt work with SP2. And I googled and got hold of a patch. So I would suggest u see if there are any patches available.
