Responding to complaints from the search engine company Google, and the concerns of competition regulators, Microsoft has agreed to modify its Windows Vista operating system.
At issue was the programme to search for files, e-mails, documents or spreadsheets on a computer's
hard drive.
Google had complained to the US Justice Department that the search tool built into Vista slowed down rival search programmes, including the one offered by Google.
It said that violated a competition settlement that Microsoft reached with the authorities in 2001.
Microsoft will now build in an option to let users select whichever desktop search programme they choose on personal computers running Windows.
It will also give technical information to companies like Google so that their programmes can run more smoothly with Vista.

Google(Internet Search Giant) can just make up minds to Get any "Microsoft query" in the 1000000th page of Google Search Engine..if it wishes .This is just an example
Re: Microsoft to change Vista over search concerns
no its not the other way around ... the headlines were:
MS bows to pressure .... just like they sued ms for having msn as the default search engine in ie7 same way things came out here because google themselves said that coz of vista they were suffering loses

Well, then theoretically Google should also sue Apple cos Spotlight doesn't allows GDS for Mac to hook its indexing engine in the OS instead of Spotlight's indexing service which always runs in background.
Microsoft : Damned if they do, Damned if they don't.
Google should instead learn to work the way Vista works. Using the APIs available on MSDN Google can simply overwrite the Vista indexing service & use its own. But no, they are lazy ass developers who don't wanna work.
The last thing I want is a Google Ad in my start menu or Explorer Window.

^^^^ judging by what is happening, I guess they are.
The Whole instant search API is documented on MSDN. You can add your own custom file types too in indexing. Why can't google just follow the way Windows work.
Eik to Windows ke hisab se software nahi banayenge aur jab kharab hoga due to this to bolenge "Windows Vista sux"

I think There might be more Technical aspects due to which GOOGLE had to take such a kind of an action OR else U know GOOGLE isnt so weak/unmatured enough to beat them in developing applications
