Yes. Pacemakers are very vulnerable to electromagnetic signals. All electro magnetic devices including mobile will cause pacemakers to malfunction. That's where the quality standards come in. Minimize the electromagnetic emission.

iPods are not the only reason, but mobile phone manufacturers solved this problem to some extent years ago using SAR regulations & following them.

Don't know about iPods. But fanboyism aside, this is indeed a serious thing.
