Direct conversion does not even give you a rough estimate of the price. For all we know, it could end up costing double that price in India. So, does anyone know the Indian price of this one? Is it there in India yet?
I am in the market for a 1 TB drive and am heavily leaning in favour of the Western Digital MyBook Pro. They have specially been designed to complement MacBook Pros and Mac Pros. But it would cost somewhere around Rs. 27,000 which is quite expensive. And that too, I have to find a way of having it bought in and shipped from Goa, because it is a lot more expensive in Kolkata.

Re: Hitachi becomes first to ship 1 Terabyte Hard Drive
Hey aayush, why don't you go in for two 500GB drives which will come to around 18k (though they would have only FW400 on them). Maybe glue them together to make em look like a 1TB drive...

Re: Hitachi becomes first to ship 1 Terabyte Hard Drive
You haven't seen how wide the 1 TB hard drives are.
@goobimama, LOL!
FireWire 800 is an absolute must and I really don't want to own three external hard drives.

Considering the thing that I am filling out my almost 1 TB space (500 + 3x160) with no more free SATA ports left on my board...it would be great to upgrade to two 1 TB disks with 1 TB solely as backup
...and yeah it will definitely cost AT LEAST 5000 but i was just hoping against hope

Re: Hitachi becomes first to ship 1 Terabyte Hard Drive
Talking of sharing HDD space, anyone know if there is a casing available for NAS? Or what's the best option for a branded NAS these days (in a small quantity of around 200GB)...

500 GB cost somewhere around 8000 to 10000. No idea about 700 GB.
