Bumptop Desktop

Some more of my notes from this year’s TED conference, which I described the other day.

A Canadian programmer named Anand Agarawala presented a new computer-desktop filing system that was, to say the least, novel. The audience spent quite a bit of time giggling, ooh-ing and ahh-ing.

There's a really cool YouTube video too for your viewing pleasure.

I have seen this bullshit before. This is totally useless , worst way to manage your desktop and even not the best way to waste your time.

You should read David Pogue's post. Click on 'Read more...' above.

He basically agrees with you, but just look at his view-point. I found it quite wise.

If i was a 3 year old , may be i wud given it a shot. But the truth is i am not in playschool anymore. The computer desktop is superior to the hard to manage real world desktop. We cant do anything abt the real world desktop management , it is the way it is . But the computer desktop is what we have in our control , we dont have to go thru the crap of managing the physical files here and there, its just click/go /search/etc , its fast and it does not have to follow the rules of the real world objects. So what is the point of going back and doing something which is harder to manage wrt what we have currently, what is the point of doing this playschool pile them up game. Ridiculous .

And if some kids want to have fun , let them have it with real world objects, its always the better way of learning.
