And the Best Mac OSX Browser Is…
Quote:
Nowadays, numerous
companies are fighting for the most powerful browser title but it seems the leaders are still the classic ones. Macworld published an interesting research, sustaining the most secure Mac OSX browser of 2006 is Safari. The company said Firefox was affected by 26 percent fewer security flaws than Microsoft’s Internet Explorer, the browser included in the well known Windows operating system.
It seems like Internet Explorer was affected by 54 vulnerabilities while Firefox recorded 40 security flaws between August and December 2006. The winners of the rank are surely Opera and Safari, the application that discovered only 4 bugs for each of the programs.
“Internet Explorer was particularly affected by concerted efforts to ‘fuzz’ the browser for new vulnerabilities. The majority reported affected Internet Explorer or Windows components accessible through the browser,” said the Symantec report, which cited July’s ‘Month of Browser Bugs’ project as a big contributor according to Macworld.
As you surely know, the battle for the most powerful browser is often limited only to the two well-known applications: Mozilla’s Firefox and Microsoft’s Internet Explorer. I must admit they are somehow advantaged because IE is offered as the default browser for the Windows operating system, so it’s quite obvious to become popular, while Firefox is regarded as the secure alternative for the buggy IE. It seems like Safari is a new competitor for the two giants, attracting most of the Mac owners.
Safari is the default browser provided by Apple in the Mac OSX but will also represent the only browsing application included into the upcoming mobile device iPhone. Safari was first announced in January 7, 2003, the same day when the first beta application was also launched in the battle. Soon after this first test release, Safari became the default browser in Mac OSX, receiving praises from many of the Mac owners.

Re: And the Best Mac OSX Browser Is…
The best browser is Safari but it is not the best in its default state. You need to install some plugins like Saft, PithHelmet, SafariStand and Inquisitor.
OmniWeb is second best.

Re: And the Best Mac OSX Browser Is…
I would say, Firefox. Just cos it is same among all the platforms.
Camino which is a native version of Firefox for Mac, is better though.
Safari is indeed better, cos its apple's own & native to the OS.

This is the only reason I myself praised safari for the first time. It's just a browser & almost all work the same sans the plugins etc

I only use Inquisitor. It's a search plugin. Whenever you enter any search query in the search box, it automatically opens up the li'l black thing with the top 5 results, and a few other related links that are customizable.

If you click on it, private browsing is activated. From then on your browsing history, downloads list etc will not be recorded, until you deactivate it. Definitely better than clearing the url list again and again.

But, that means that you lose all your url history. That's the exact difference. But, I'm sure there will be an extension for Private Browsing for FF.

Go to Tools -> Clear private data -> uncheck "Clear form & search history".
Now you will not loose your URL history. Safari does the same thing

What about the shady urls in the URL history?
What Safari does is that it creates an isolated session that does not get logged. When you deactivate private browsing, nothing from that session gets logged. To deactivate, simply uncheck the Private browsing button or close the window.

Safari and Camino are equally good. (Though I prefer Safari) Safari is, in fact, the best browser on earth!

Needless to say, he could not find any of the six URLs and a few pictures I opened using 'Private Browsing'. He did blame me that I had bought the Mac for watching porn. But that was the only time I used the feature. So I have to say it is pretty much useless to me. But I can see how it would be helpful to those who do watch porn and wish to hide it from prying eyes.
