Default Ubuntu Ultimate Gamers Edition Released


After the success of both Ubuntu Christmas Edition and Ubuntu Ultimate Edition, Ubuntu Software made the impossible and they have released a new (and this time bigger) Ubuntu-based Live CD with many, many games and all the software from the previous products.
Ubuntu Ultimate Gamers Edition is a Live CD, based on the popular Ubuntu 6.10 (Edgy Eft) Linux distribution, which includes a lot of games and some extra enhancements like new theme/sounds/splash screen/wallpaper, wireless Internet, Bluetooth integration, PPP integration, 35 extra fonts, a lot of GNOME themes, Beryl repository, iPod support, multimedia codecs, Nvidia video drivers, NTFS read/write support and all the current updates.

Looking through the included software in this release, we can see popular applications like Beagle search tool, Kopete messenger, Mplayer media player, VLC media player, Songbird audio player, Amarok audio player, K9Copy DVD ripper, DeVeDe DVD creator, DVD Shrink, Gaim messenger, KVIrc IRC client, Gftp FTP client, QEMU machine emulator, Avidemux video editor, Azureus P2P client, Wine Windows emulator, Google Picasa photo manager, Frostwire PRO file sharing client, Qcad autocad application, Bluefish and Quanta Plus HTML editors, Dvd::rip DVD ripper, Audacity audio editor, Isomaster ISO editor and many, many more. Due to licensing agreements, they have removed Java, Flash and Acrobat reader from this edition.

Ubuntu Ultimate Gamers Edition has also the usual Ubuntu installer in case you want to install this distro on your hard drive and guess what, you can watch TV while it installs! Be aware though, that it will require a considerable amount of space when it's installed.

Ubuntu Ultimate is a great way to make people shift. It has codecs and all the necessary goodies and it's Ubuntu, which makes it all the lot easier.

Am downloading the non-gamer-specific, normal version though.

I just wish Linux have games like what windows are getting.

It already happened.A company called cedega supports many famous windows games emulated in Linux.wine-software is a free OSS.while cedega needs paid subscription.they are sure losers who is trying to make money from poor gaming fellas.anyways your gaming needs done.
