Angry Microsoft: Just five years support for Vista Home, Ultimate

Support for three versions limited to five years, rather than the typical 10 years !

Microsoft Corp. yesterday said it would limit support for three versions of the Windows Vista operating system, including its most expensive, to five years rather than the usual 10 years.

The company defended the difference by noting that the clock just started ticking. "End of life-cycle support for Windows Vista is still five years out," a spokesperson said in an e-mail response.

However, the software maker left the door ajar. "As we've done in the past, Microsoft will continue to evaluate the support life cycle for Windows Vista and make decisions about extending support if and when it is necessary," the spokesperson added.

This is because the next OS is timelined in 2011 and Vista's support will be OUTLINED means extended and monitored on regulation basis after % years..

The next OS to come is Windows Mesa.. (most Probably)

I'm sure they will extend it, just as they did for Windows XP

[quote]Windows "Vienna" (formerly known as Blackcomb) is a codename for a future version of Microsoft Windows, originally announced in February 2000, but has since been subject to major delays and rescheduling. As of February 2007, the name of the operating system used internally is undisclosed and is not used publicly by Microsoft,[1] though "Windows 7" has been noted in job postings as a working name for the project.[2]

Microsoft has refrained from discussing the details about "Vienna" publicly as they focus on the release and marketing of Windows Vista,[3] though some early details of various core operating system features have emerged at developer conferences such as Windows Hardware Engineering Conference in 2006.[/q]

DID you even read the link you provided....

ITs clearly written Codename

first blackcomb
then Vienna

but the final name is MESA.. ok...

FIRST read yourself what you are posting ..( see your LINK YOURSELF)

The 5 years is mainline support, after this there should be the 4-5 year extended support too.
