Google Groups gets an Update

Google Groups is all about helping users connect with people, access information, and communicate effectively over email and on the web. Now there's a new version on the block. We didn't want to say it, but yes, it's new and improved.

It's got a new look, and there are a lot of great new features.




New Features

• Page Creation: Create and collaborate on shared web pages, hosted within the group itself.
  
• Customization: Select pictures, colors and styles to give your group its own distinct look.
  
• File sharing: Upload and share your work with others in your group.
  
• Member profiles: Learn more about the other members in your group.

Google Image Search Updated;

Microsoft's Live Image Search has always been very sleek with its use of JavaScript. Apparently Google thought so as well, as they've started using similar JavaScript themselves. The image search has indeed been updated to mimic some of Microsoft's effects. The overall change gives a very clean look to how the images are displayed while searching...

Google Groups has been in beta for quite a while. At least it has an update for now. By the way, it's still in beta, right?

Ya. It was in Beta stage earlier. But, w.e.f 23rd Jan 2007, Google Groups is out of beta.

The New Google Groups Is Out Of Beta

The slick new Google Groups launched in October last year and available at groups-beta.google.com is now out of beta and moves to groups.google.com.

You'll find a cleaner homepage, search results that look more like web search results, topics that borrow a lot from Gmail's conversations. Each group has 100 MB storage space you can use to upload files or to collaboratively edit documents. Groups are much more customizable: you can change the colors and add welcome messages.
