Angry Is Yahoo hijacking browsers?

Several articles on Slashdot and other websites are reporting that, in an attempt to gain more of a foothold on browser searching, Yahoo is employing some shady tactics.

One way for a search engine to gain a popular place among internet users, is to become the default search tool of choice in the browser...users are complaining that even after opting out, Yahoo changed their default searching function....

Default Re: Is Yahoo hijacking browsers?

Opera has tied up with yahoo and made yahoo theri default search engine.
And Yahoo cannot make itself the default search engine without the consent of the user, none of the browsers let any search engine become default on its own.

Ya if you installed the Yahoo! version of IE7, then it is ofcourse going to be the default search engine.

And if the user misses the "yes, make yahoo my default search engine", its none of yahoo's fault. Users hardly ever pay attention to whats being asked while installing softwares!!!

This past week, Opera signed a deal with Yahoo to have its new Yahoo OneSearch as the default search provider for Opera Mini and the full Opera Mobile browser.
Just wanted to point put its for opera's mobile version and not the desktop version.
