Blue Blu-Ray discs banned by Sony?

The adult movie industry seems set to standardise on the HD-DVD format, and it appears that Sony has banned pornographers from using its Blu-ray discs.

Reports from the adult industry exhibition in Las Vegas suggest that all the major adult movie studios are standardising on HD-DVD, citing the lower costs of production as the primary driver.

But there are reports that Sony may be encouraging this by banning Blu-ray disc manufacturers from accepting adult content at all.

'Joone', the founder of Digital Playground, one of the biggest adult studios, told German magazine Heisse that he was originally planning to switch from DVD to Blu-Ray because the capacity of the discs was larger.

But Joone found that no manufacturer would take his content, citing fears that Sony would cancel production licences with any facility printing pornography.

If true, this seems a bizarre decision by Sony. The adult industry's adoption of the VHS standard is seen is one of the key reasons why Sony's Betamax format lost in the video player market.

So far no adult movie studio is currently stocking Blu-ray titles, while major names like Bangbros and Pink Visual have come out for HD-DVD.

I guess Sony will reconsider it decision. Porn market does make a huge difference in making either of the technology popular.

imo what SONY did is right.

suppose, if i had come up with some thing like Blue-Ray... i would do the same, i dont want my stuff to become famous coz of such thing.

Money aint important, its the NAME & respect.

PlayStation3 (games) & good Movies is more than enough for Blue Ray to get popularized massively.

Moral highground is alright in ones livingroom, but when it comes down to commerce it is, perhaps, a spoiler.

Sony's bizzare decision is going to hurt it where it hurts the most........marketshare.

The porn industry is never going to feel a scratch.

There are legal & illegal aspects here too! Legal Adult Porno industry is doin a booming business all over the world and does matter a lot for DVD/VCD's market share. Toshiba would have agreed to share their technology for the same.

That's it. All over. Sony refutes its statement! I guessed it before that this would happen. I quoted it in my second post of this thread......
