Default Nvidia GeForce 8800 GTX Details Unveiled.

An Asian web-site has published several details concerning Nvidia GeForce 8800 GTX graphics card from Asustek Computer that do not reveal any performance or micro-architectural peculiarities of the chip code-named G80, but do reveal some information regarding the details of graphics cards powered by Nvidia’s forthcoming graphics processing unit (GPU).

The pictures published by MyChat web-site expose that the GeForce 8800 GTX-based graphics card from Asus looks a little different compared to alleged Nvidia G80 picture published earlier. While the board does look like a large one, it does not feature liquid cooling system as well as has elements placed in a little bit different way compared to the previous version.

According to the web-site, which claims that the information comes from sources within Asus, one of the world’s largest maker of graphics cards, Nvidia’s yet-to-be-announced G80 graphics chip will support Microsoft DirectX 10 Shader Model 4.0, Nvidia’s GigaThread technology, Nvidia Quantum Effects technology, floating point high dynamic-range (HDR) lighting and so on.

Asus, the web-site claims, will release two versions of the GeForce 8800-series graphics cards: EN8800GTX/HTDP/768M and EN8800GTS/HTDP/640M. The naming scheme implies that there will be two versions of the G80: the GeForce 8800 GTX and the GeForce 8800 GTS which will be different not only in terms of performance, but also in terms of installed amount of memory and interface: the GTX boards will carry 768MB with 384-bit interface, whereas the GTX cards will have 640MB with 320-bit interface. The higher-end model 8800 GTX will have its chip clocked at 575MHz and GDDR3 memory operating at 1.80GHz.

It is uncertain why Asustek and Nvidia use GDDR3 memory for the new top-of-the-range products, as GDDR3 memory operating at 1.70GHz and above is pretty rare, whereas GDDR4 memory operates at 2.0GHz and beyond easily.

Specifications of the G80 chip are not clear. Some sources indicate that Nvidia’s first DirectX 10 chip will incorporate 48 pixel shader processors and an unknown number of vertex shader/geometry shader processors. Other, however, claims that the G80 has 32 pixel and 16 vertex and geometry shader processors. Yet another source has indicated that the G80 will have unified shader architecture and will consist of 700 million transistors.

Asustek Computer and Nvidia Corp. did not comment on the news-story.

Yeah, any details for something midrange like 8600GT/8600GS?

In order to buy these, I will have to win a lottery.. Hopefully the prices of the geforce 7 series will fall. So they have done it, they have broken the 512MB memory barrier on a single chip (7950GX2 excluded). 768MB of GDDR4 memory is just unbelievable. WOW!!! Now what will they come up next, 1GB of GDDR4 memory???

As many of you know, NVIDIA is launching its next-generation GeForce 8-series products later this week. However, there has been a manufacturing problem with a batch of the GeForce 8800 GTX cards. Clearly someone has made a mistake during the manufacturing process and NVIDIA is going to have to pull out all of the stops to meet its launch date

Thumbs up Re: Nvidia GeForce 8800 GTX Details Unveiled.

NVIDIA GeForce 8800GTX and the GeForce 8800GTS. The new architecture will be DX10, as we already know, and incorporate shader model 4.0 compatibility. The GTX will be the top of the line graphics card for NVIDIA with reference cards clocked at 575 MHz core and 900 MHz on the 768 MB GDDR3 memory. The GTX cards will have 384-bit memory interface according to DailyTech with a whopping 86 GB/s of memory bandwidth. The GTX is also said to have 128 unified shaders clocked at 1350 MHz with a theoretical texture fill rate of about 38.4 billion pixels per second. The 8800GTS is said to run at a slower 500 MHz core speed with 640 MB of GDDR3 memory at 900 MHz. The GTS memory interface is reduced to 320-bit for overall memory bandwidth of 64 GB/s.GTS cards will also have 96 unified shaders at 1200 MHz compared to the GTX’s 128 shaders at 1350 MHz, both cards will be HDCP compliant with DVI-D, VIVO and HDTV outputs. Both cards are said to be dual slot and set to launch the second week of November. We can fully expect to see higher speeds on the clock of the actual production cards from the likes of XFX and other manufacturers as well. If you have your eye on a pair of these beasties for Christmas, I suggest you put a new power supply on the list as well. It seems that for an SLI pair you will need at least 800W.

HI SOME SITES R TELLING THAT.Nvidia is going to lanching GeForce 8800."Nvidia today sent out invitations for the introduction of the "definitive gaming platform" on 8 November in San Jose, Calif". "These cards are supposedly not launching until November 8th".

Arrey people, Geforce 8800 GPU's and nforce 600 series MCP's are out in the international market.

http://www.nvidia.com/object/reality_redefined.html

Also received a promo mail from XFX informing of the XFX version of the 8800GTX.

Must be costing a bomb. Hopefully prices of Geforce 7800 and 7900 series cards will fall.
