Default Microsoft Alters Windows Vista to Appease EU

Microsoft is giving in to demands from the European Union (EU) and will be releasing a stripped-down version of Windows Vista for that region. The company will also offer a similar version of Windows for the South Korean market in order to stave off further litigation.

"Microsoft agreed to make each of the changes that the Commission advises us today. Having made these changes, the company and (Microsoft Chief Executive) Steve Ballmer feel comfortable moving forward, feel confident that we are in compliance with our EU competition law obligation," said Brad Smith, an attorney for Microsoft. Whether the changes made will appease the EU remain to be seen.

now Microsoft should add one sticker to the Windows Vista retail box

"Note - Due to Europian Commision strict rules & regulation, Windows Vista for Europe does not provide any security features at all, you are adviced to use a third party security application or suite as per your requirment. Charges may very for these suits"

This is just sick, Microsoft is not even allowed to make their OS secure & add features, & now the Linux/Mac fanboys will again start troling that Windows sux cos it is insecure & does not provide features

eu and korea think by doing these tricks they can pull MS down from the no. 1 spot ..... this shud drilled into linux and MAC users brains that its not MS which doesnt want to make a good OS it is others who dont want them to do so.....

Seems like we can make create easily a scenario fo the conspiracy theory: Coruption in the IT world IMO it really sucks to make different version of it, especially that they are stripping features.
It's like the europeans are stupid !!!
As a simple example compare the same car made for america with the one made for europe...didn't think I'd get to this in software too
