Thumbs up LinuxDesktop 2006 Survey is in, the winner is Ubuntu!!

The results of DesktopLinux.com's survey are in, and the votes are
tallied. The winner is Ubuntu 6.06!!. Almost 15,000 Linux users took part
in this survey. Here are the top distros according to the users:

1) Ubuntu - 29.2%
2) Debian - 12.2%
3) Suse - 10.1%
4) Gentoo - 9.6%
5) Fedora - 7%
6) Mandriva - 4.8%

Thinking of the big names, RedHat came with mere 2.2% votes. That's still better
than Linspire (1%) & Xandros (0.8%).

Ubuntu with a strong helping community & an excellent distro is beyond
doubt , the winner. Surprisingly, Debian is in the second place!!.
The survey also adds that Kubuntu(KDE desktop) & Edubuntu has its own
fans.

No he's asking the number of people using Linux From Scratch. I guess, it's not been included in the poll or is it?

I don't know that. That's not what the survey covered!!! The survey just wanted to
know which Linux the users were using & their preference for a particular Linux.
That's all.

I suppose you're right. The people crazy enough to do LFS won't participate in such polls

@Nimda, Mandriva Linux has not improved much in it's offering, so it fared badly!!
@Sykora, You don't call LFS users as crazy!! Linux is different from Windows, so
users must learn new things & unlearn certain things they learnt in Windows.
A Mac O.S user will call a Windows a crap. Things are more simpler in Mac campared
to Windows. It's how you look at things, you'll form an idea about a thing.

Why alas for Debian @Prakash? Debian is a very good distro. It surely deserves it.
