Talking Sony cutting PS2 price to £95

Sony Computer Entertainment Europe has confirmed a reduction in the price of the PlayStation2 across the territory to 129.99 Euros or £94.99 in the UK with immediate effect. Over forty million units have been shipped throughout Europe, though globally the system has sold over one hundred and six million.

The new price of the PS2 undercuts the RRP of Microsoft's debut Xbox of £99.99, which has floundered significantly in the run up to, and subsequent release of, Xbox 360 towards the end of 2005. In addition to the console, the cost of Memory Cards for the platform will also be reduced to £19.99.
