Net, putting millions of Windows users at risk of PC takeover attacks!! The code attempts to exploit a known vulnerability in the DHCP Client service. Microsoft warned that a successful exploit would allow remote code execution on Windows 2000 SP4, Windows XP, & Windows 2003 Server. Because of an unchecked buffer, Microsoft said an attacker could remotely hijack a compromised System to install programs, view, change or delete data, or create new accounts with full user rights!! Read more about it here So Windows users get your firewall in place. Use ZoneAlarm Pro. Take a full backup of data, in case the hijacker deletes it!! |

Oops montylee , use Linux. You are safe. You can have a shot at Ubuntu 6.06 (Dapper Drake).
It's a very good distro , & easy to use. Also there are plenty of packages that can be installed. |

Why r u publishing partial info regarding this, & why is it anti MS again, sound kind of provokative to me Users of Windows XP SP2 are not affected by this malware. As always it is adviced to install SP2 & latest updated via Windows updates, & in case u do not have genuine windows, better use Automatic update A fix is already relesed by Microsoft, which can be downloaded from their august security bulletin |
