The Web is abuzz with news that Nvidia might be killing its GT200 series of graphics cards. It all started with SemiAccurate’s Charlie Demerjian – who has long been criticised as a ‘tech tabloid’ writer by all and sundry – stating that the company is set to kill its GeForce GTX285, GTX275, and GTX260 graphics cards, and possibly the GTX295 too; thus abandoning the entire high-range and mid-range graphics.

Looks like nVidia is feeling the heat with ATI’s DX11 launch and their superiority in technological innovation bringing the die size down and achieving great yields which is simply not possible by nVidia. If this news is true, it could be the death knell for them.

afaik, nvidia had already replied to this rumour.

what nvidia is saying is that the current inventory was ordered couple of months ago and due to unexpected rise in sales, they are going to face problem by next feb with production of these cards going a bit slow. What they also say is that there shouldn't be a problem with inventories till coming February.
