Talking Intel: E6300 makes a comeback

LOLOLOLOL

http://www.fudzilla.com/index.php?op...2831&Itemid=35

http://www.techpowerup.com/93938/Pen...0_Spotted.html

This ought to be the funniest of news to hit the internet. Intel decided to launch a new Penryn CPU - the E6300. Named Intel Pentium Dual Core E6300, this baby is clocked @ 2.8GHz and has 2MB L2 cache and runs on a 1066MHz system BUS. Supposed to be a part of the E5xxx line.

Remember the old CPU with the same name ? Intel Core2Duo E6300 with 2MB L2 cache and 1.86GHz clock on a 1066MHz FSB was the first Core 2 Duo CPU ever. It was a 65nm Conroe.

The CPUs have everything similar except for the fact that E6300 is a Penryn and has much higher stock speed. And a "Pentium Dual Core" ROFL.

This ought to create confusion as I think this is the first time 2 CPUs from Intel have the exact same name as far as model number is concerned.

I think Intel shud stop fooling us with OLD dual cores and intro something like this:-

Core 2 Quad Q7xxx with features:-
- 2MB L2 Cache
- 1066/800MHz FSB
- Speeds of 2.5/2.8 GHz

I still don't get why Intel didn't use the name E5800 or E5600.

If E5400 is 2.66GHz, the next number, E5500 or E5600 should be the 2.8GHz CPU.

No the older one was C2Duo but this one is Dual Core and yeah thay could've used other names like 6310or like the same by changing last digits.

Pentium Dual Core E6300 may be just the same 65nm E6300 proccy on a 45nm Penryn core. Just like they renamed their 90nm P4 630 to 65nm P4 631, 530 to 531 and so on, with just a slight change in names....anyway this time it sounds ridiculous!!

WTH! e7400 ( 45nm penryn, 2.8GHz, 1066Mhz FSB, 2MB l2 Cache ) already exist in the name of C2D. So dual core 6300 is nothing more than renamed e7400

they will disable SSE4.1 and 1MB cache on the Pentium Dual Core E6300 version, just like the persent Pentium Dual Core E5xxx series which are really C2D E7xxx series with SSE4.1 and 1MB cache disabled.

btw topgear....E7400 has 3MB L2 cache, not 2MB cache.

Actually, E6300 2.0 has 1066MHz FSB compared to E5000 series 800MHz FSB. That makes it similar in FSB to E6000 and E7000 CPUs and hence the name...

I still think it should have been E5550 since its one step AHEAD of E5400 in clockspeed so E5500 but more FSB so E5550.

BTW, it also supports Intel Virtualisation Technology.

^^Pentium E6300 works with 266MHz FSB clock which is the base for Wolfdale M2 core just like the E7000 series with 1066MHz FSB(266x4). But Intel VT-x is enabled as u told in E6300 which is disabled in E7000 series; and SSE4.1 and 1MB cache disabled as in E5000 series, which is also a down scaled Wolfdale with 200MHz FSB clock(200x4=800MHz) from the actual 266MHz. u can easily set a E5000 series proccy to work with 266MHz and obtain similar results in benchmarks, except in cache benching.

Sorry, my bad.

BTW, as we came to know that VT will be enabled on dual core 6300, I think it's step intel is making to gain the market of windows 7s xp virtual mode as
many of intel procs just does not supports it but most of the amd procs already supports.

^^I think they are stopping the E series, Intel hav already declared E8700 as their last C2D line up. They are planning to shift to some socket 1155 or 1156 processors, which are different down scaled variants of socket 1366 core i7, like core i5 and all....
