PS3`s Cell power to be harnessed for H.264 encoding

PS3 is the most powerful console at present . All because of its Cell Broadband Processor! Now a Japanese company has a solution to harness the power of the Cell , and use it for Video Encoding.We are not far away from utilizing the cell broadband for our normal PC!

A Japanese company,Fixstars Corporation, has announced a software to access the PS3`s cell power and use it to encode H.264 video, which would be very much helpful for the Video editors and designers.This software called CodecSys CE-10. This software which will be the middle man would be installed on a PC and this software will power the video encoder to use Cell Broadband Power! A really cheap alternative for video encoders. If they can harness this , what next ? if we could only get a little more access , we can have a full working PC with the power built into the ps3.

That's awesome.. i think that Linux harnesses the power of all the cores present on PS3's processor.. but still.. Sony doesn't allows Linux to harness the power of two 7800 GTs present in it.. This thing needs to be fixed first..

Linux dont have access to RSX , but it can use Cell Broadband Engine . and this thing i wanted . btw how much time would it take to convert 1 movie for PSP ?

don't know buddy.. don't have PS3 and ain't gonna buy it until someone hacks into the hyperviser and makes the power of graphics available to Linux..

thats the most toughest part in cracking ps3

at presesnt linux can be installed..

^^ Vista / XP arent installed natively , they are installed over linux and run crap , i have experienced it already .
