Universal chargers

Leading mobile phone manufacturers have agreed to introduce a universal charger for handsets.

This was announced on Tuesday, at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, by the GSMA (Groupe Speciale Mobile Association), which represents more than 750 of the world's cell phone operators.

The new interface will be a mini USB. Blackberry Storm already uses this interface. The companies that have signed for the change include Nokia, LG, Motorola, Samsung and Sony Ericsson.

that is sure a good idea. Instead of using different chargers for every one in the family, it is always nice to have a single one. Especially mini usb - great.

This won't be a reality until 2012 acc. to Tech2.com .. For me , the standard should have been the Micro USB instead of the Mini USB ... Now a days , most of the "Digicams , PC Peripherals and other electronics use the Micro USB , so one USB Cable to satisfy the needs !
